Author Interview: Tanja Longoria

• What inspired you to write your latest book?

A reader posted a few pictures to find recs with that vibe. I couldn't stop thinking about it, so my brain started to create a whole book around that feeling.

• What is your favorite book/genre to read?

I'm such a mood reader I hope all over the place. As long as it's romance and hooks me, I read it.

• What themes do you find yourself returning to in your work?

I'm such a sucker for writing groveling, hurt/comfort, and consent. Even though my books, especially my paranormal books, come with dark themes, consent is such a big factor between the main couples. 

• How do you handle writer’s block?

Honestly, I have been lucky enough not to experience it for more than a few days. I work on multiple books at once that vary in stages. So when I'm not up to writing, I edit, proofread, or format. I also hop between stories. If I don't know what to write for my PNR stories and need a break from my darker themes, I move to my romcoms and write all the steamy and fluffiness without the angst. 

• What do you hope readers take away from your stories?

I hope my readers can get a break from reality and enjoy the journey my characters take them on. 

• What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a writer?

The best thing you can do for your book is to write the next one. With each word you write and each new journey you start, you'll grow as a writer and learn more. 

• If you could meet any character from your books, who would it be and why?

Oh, that's a tough one! I do love writing reverse harem, so you know I have trouble picking just one. 

I think it will have to be one of my side characters from Crystal Luna and The Marked Huntress. I felt so bad when I decided on Heath's fate and killed his mate and Luna. I would apologize to him for making him go through such a tremendous loss.
