What inspired you to write your latest book?

My latest story started with a desire to read a book with a female anti-hero who was getting her due justice but didn't care if she was breaking the law or killing along the way. I had read a lot of books where the woman fell for the morally grey man, and I wanted to read a book with a powerful, morally grey woman, so I decided to write it.

What is your favorite book/genre to read?

Dark Romance

What themes do you find yourself returning to in your work?

I definitely like writing the suspense and drama of dark romance. I tend to say I write suspense books with smutty romance sprinkled in. For me, when writing and reading, I picture the action like a movie, so I always want to make sure there's action or suspense moving the story along and keeping the reader on the edge of their seats.

How do you handle writer’s block?

If I'm stuck with what to write next, I leave the story where it is. I will go back 2 or so chapters and re-read what I wrote, letting the story and momentum rebuild. I want the story to flow, and if I push myself through writer's block before I'm ready, the scene or storyline will feel forced. And if that doesn't work, I walk away until a new scene pops into my head.

What do you hope readers take away from your stories?

There are enough stresses in life, and reading is a way to escape reality and safely visit another world for a while. I hope my readers find an escapeand characters or a story that they can relate to that makes them want to keep reading.

What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a writer?

Not everyone will like my book, and that's okay. You don't like everything you eat, so why would you like everything you read? People have different preferences, triggers and expectations, and as a writer, I can't meet them all. I have to write what is in me to write and not worry about writing to please everyone else.

• If you could meet any character from your books, who would it be and why?

I would want to meet the female main character of the book I'm currently writing. She is badass, sassy, opinionated, strong, and determined. She doesn't need to rely on anyone else and does what she wants, consequences be damned. I'd like to meet her and get lessons on how to be so self-assured and confident.

Where can readers find your books? Where can they follow you online?

As of right now, I have only published one book. HENNINGTON can be found on Amazon.
