• What inspired you to write your latest book?
The book I am working on at the moment is inspired by a man who came to the door at our cottage who had aerial pictures he took of our cottage and property from his plane. He was selling them. You could see the back woods in the photo and I thought to myself, wouldn’t it be crazy if we saw something in the photo on our property, that wasn’t supposed to be there?
• What is your favorite book/genre to read?
I love a good thriller with a dysfunctional family.
• What themes do you find yourself returning to in your work?
I find I write about the perseverance of women often. I love when my female characters can overcome their struggles and start their lives over.
• How do you handle writer’s block?
I don’t typically get writer's block often, thankfully. But when I do, it’s usually because I need to come at my writing from another angle. I don’t write in a linear timeline so if I feel I’m not getting somewhere with one idea, I’ll typically go over my list of chapters I need to write and start somewhere else.
• What do you hope readers take away from your stories?
It truly depends on which novel it is because there are big takeaways that are all different with each novel I wrote. For example in my first novel, Route 92, the big takeaway I hope people got is that life is precious and can be gone in the blink of an eye. How do you want to live your life?
• What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a writer?
Go write the book you want to read!
• If you could meet any character from your books, who would it be and why?
Probably Stevie from my novel Confessions.. she was just so heartbroken and guilt-ridden. I would want to comfort her. I would tell her she’s a good person.
• Where can readers find your books? Where can they follow you online?
All three of my novels are on Amazon! My author Instagram page is Heather.lucinda_author
