• What inspired you to write your latest book?
I came across a picture of a girl in what looked like a nightgown in front of a large winged monster. That immediately sparked the first images of Nightmares of Nightfall. The longer I daydreamed about it, the more vivid the characters and world became, leading to Daggers of Darkness, my newest release and second book of the series, and more books to come!
• What is your favorite book/genre to read?
I am definitely a mood reader; however, fantasy and romance (and any combination of the two) definitely have a special place in my heart. But that is not to say that I don't enjoy a good thriller when I'm in the mood for it!
• What themes do you find yourself returning to in your work?
I love strong bonds and relationships between characters (good or bad!). I also love a good romance alongside action and a strong plot! Most of my characters are also discovering the world around them and their place in it.
• How do you handle writer’s block?
I find that there are typically two reasons I get writer's block: either I am stuck in the story or my creative well is empty. If I am stuck I take a lot of walks, spend a lot of time thinking in showers, and listening to my writing playlist as I try to figure it out. If my creative well is drained I step away for a couple of days so that I can refill it through reading a good book or two, watching fun tv and movies, or losing myself in a video game.
• What do you hope readers take away from your stories?
The first thing is that they are able to lose themselves in the story. I also hope that readers fall in love with my characters and the bonds that they share. My characters may see the worst of people, but they also see the best of them as well. I hope that it shows that even when things seem darkest you can still find love, comfort, and happiness in those that mean the most.
• What’s the best piece of advice you’ve received as a writer?
The best advice I have received is that the first draft is you putting the pieces in one place so that you can build something beautiful in future drafts.
• If you could meet any character from your books, who would it be and why?
I would love to meet a lot of my characters in real life, but if I had to choose just one, I would have to say Fannar. I believe that we would be great friends. Oh, or Gil, because I feel like he just needs a big hug some days.
• Where can readers find your books? Where can they follow you online?
My books are available on Amazon, Kindle, Apple, Kobo, and more!
